TOP 10 Car Accessories with prices for a Perfect Road Trip - Practical Tips & Personal Recommendations

Hey folks,

Today, I'm super excited to share with you 10 amazing car accessories with prices that will completely elevate your road trip experience!

I've personally tried and tested each of these, and trust me, they are absolute game changers.

I've split them into three simple categories: MUST HAVE, SHOULD HAVE, and GOOD TO HAVE.

So, without any further ado, let's get started!

Must Have Accessories

Noodle Mats

The market is flooded with 3D, 5D, and 7D mats. While these mats do enhance the car's interior aesthetics, they require high maintenance. But what if I tell you there's a more practical option that looks great too? Enter noodle mats! Initially launched by 3M at a steep price, the competitive Indian market now offers affordable options.

These mats excel in dust and water absorption. Regular mats can lead to rusting if spills aren't promptly cleaned, and AC floor blowers can lift fine dust into the air, causing respiratory issues. Noodle mats tackle both problems effectively and are easy to clean.

You can either buy precut mats from Amazon or can buy them in offline market. They would make it custom fit.

First Aid Kit

Don't laugh, but many people overlook this essential accessory. It's a must-have for road trips. Stock it with antiseptic ointment, cotton, bandages, scissor, tweezer and disposable gloves. I also include Disprin, paracetamol, mosquito repellant and amla candy. This kit is inexpensive and can be put together for under ₹200.

A simple carry pouch is perfect for keeping these items organized.

Toiletry Kit

Public facilities at petrol pumps are often subpar, so I keep a small pouch in my car with essentials like soap, shampoo pouches, hand sanitizer, a comb, razer, small toothpaste, toothbrush and hair oil pouches. I also carry a few commode sheets for cleanliness. This kit can also be assembled for under ₹100.

Mobile Holder

You might think this is a no-brainer, but hear me out! Most mobile holders stick to the windshield, exposing your phone to direct sunlight. Prolonged heat can lead to dangerous situations. I recommend mobile holders that clip onto the AC vents. The cool air keeps your phone's temperature in check—super useful, right?

Should Have Accessories

Now let's talk about those accessories which you will not need regularly but someday you will need them.

Dash Cam

In the kind of system we live in, very few people are aware of road safety. Many people think of wrong side driving as a right. In such a situation, if you're innocent in case of an accident, dash cam footage can be a blessing for you. Just make sure while buying a dash cam that it has good night vision and a wide-angle view. Additionally, you can look for GPS and other features.

I use DDPai cameras in all my cars, which range from ₹5000 to ₹10,000, and I am satisfied with them. However, other products like Qubo, 70mai, and Transcend are also available in the market. You can check them out too if you wish.

Jump Starter Cable

Friends, the next accessory is a jump starter cable. If your car's battery goes dead for some reason, you can use a jump starter cable to connect it to another car's battery and get your car running again. Simply connect the cable from your car's battery to the other car's battery, and your car will start. While buying this cable, make sure to get an 8 to 10 gauge cable if you have a diesel car, and the total length of the cable should be at least 16 feet. You can find this on Amazon for around ₹1100.

Spare / Lug Nuts

Now, let's talk about an accessory or spare part that everyone needs at some point, and when you do, it can cause a lot of trouble. But a little awareness can save you from that day.

Friends, the nuts that hold our tires in place can eventually get worn out, and then you or the tire shop won't be able to remove them. This happens because wheel alignment shops use impact wrenches incorrectly. Over time, the heads of the nuts get stripped. If the nuts don't come off, you won't be able to change the tire or get wheel balancing done. Eventually, you'll have to send the car to the service center.

So, what you need to do is keep a stock of 10-12 lug nuts with you. Whenever you go for wheel balancing, check with the technician and replace any nuts that are about to wear out. The cost of these nuts varies by brand. For example, Maruti's nuts cost ₹20 each, while Ford's cost ₹250 each.

You can buy these nuts from Boodmo or any reputed car spare parts shop.

Good to have accessories

Next, let's talk about some accessories that can make your journey smoother.

Document Organizer

A document organizer can hold your car's insurance, RC photocopy, and PUC. Don't forget to include your emergency contact details. This will come under Rs 50 in your local stationary shop.

DC to AC Converter

A DC to AC converter is incredibly useful. I've had to charge my office laptop on the go multiple times, and it came in handy. It also charges your mobile quickly and can power multiple devices like cameras and GoPros simultaneously. Plus, I once used it to light up 5 LED bulbs for camping. Super handy!

I am using Intex since 2018 but that is no longer available so 10 months ago, I bought Vantro for my new car and it has quick charge port as well. Most importantly I paid same amount of Rs 2300 what I paid 6 years ago.

Vantro 200W Car Power Inverter/Laptop Charger with 3 USB (6.2A Max) & 1 C Type(1*27WPD) Smart USB Ports, 2 AC Universal Outlets and 12V DC to 220V AC with QC3.0 Model P2
